NaNoWriMo 2012: Day Fourteen

NaNoWriMo 2012: Day Fourteen! Two weeks in and it’s time to reflect a bit on what’s been happening.

We are having a great time here on Boston’s North Shore. Writers all over Essex County are showing up at the write-ins, powering through the usual writer distractions such as gainful employment, the internet, laundry, cookies, children, pets, bills, television, pinterest, chocolate, clouds, dust bunnies, chocolate—wait, what was I writing about? Coffee, tea anyone?

Thankfully the election is over and we can refocus our energy on the task at hand: Thanksgiving.

No! Seriously, leave that to your mother-in-law, or sister, or brother or spouse—anyone else. Really, they will get food on the table without you. And no feeling guilty for stealing twenty minutes away from family time to get a word sprint in. I’m a super slower typist but I can pound out 45o words in twenty minutes. Do not neglect your word count just to get updated on your cousin’s latest exploit’s: the trial and tribulations of emu farming, or hear tell of your Great Aunt Martha’s Bunion surgery-which she posted all about on her blog and is happy to read to you.

Give yourself a goal next week. No pie for you! Until you hit…?

As for me mon frere, I will be done by this weekend. I gloat because I can. You want to gloat, get writing.

  1. YOU WROTE 50 THOUSAND WORDS IN 2.5 WEEKS?!?!?!?!?!!?!? Teach me your ways, Yoda. I’m clearly doing something wrong!

    • The write-ins have been great motivators. There is quite a large group of us meeting several times a week and I am the task master. I can’t believe I’ve written so much either.
